To provide clean, healthy and delicious fruit for our family and local community.
Blueberries Olé! LLC is a small farm that’s run by husband-and-wife team, Mike & Carol Mahoney, with the invaluable help of their children and grandchildren! Mike is a 5th-generation farmer and decided to give blueberries a try after a career as a broccoli grower. In 2010 the first berries were harvested. Their daughter suggested the idea of allowing her friends to come out and pick berries and the U-PICK blueberry farm was born. Since those early years, strawberries, blackberries, apricots, lavender, and plums have been added. Mike and Carol are committed to no pesticide use at the blueberry farm.
Below are just a few of the items you will find out at the U-PICK farm:
We offer several varieties of blueberries and introduce new varieties as old plants tire out, in an effort to provide quality fruit over a more extended grow period. Our Blueberry U-Pick season runs from April through July.
The Freedom variety of blackberries are thorn-less and begin ripening in June-July and harvest into September. They develop a high sugar content and are large berries.
Through the Spring and Summer the Albion variety of strawberries are ripe and delicious! We don’t use ANY sprays to manage pesty mites that can plague strawberries. Instead we use IPM (Integrated Pest Management.... "good bugs eat the bad") as our method of pest control. In addition, we do not treat the soil with any fumigants, organic or otherwise. Instead we rotate the strawberry crop every year which helps avoid root issues.
We have some sweet peas and lavender for cutting your own little bouquet.
Local beekeeper, Jeremy Rose, keeps his hives at our farm. The bees pollinate the blueberry flowers and we sell the honey at our stand. Jeremy is a knowledgeable beekeeper and well known along the Central Coast.
Our good friends, Joe & Fran Ferrari, grow olives in the Santa Maria Valley, in Oliveria Canyon, using organic practices. They harvest the olives in the Fall and have the fruit pressed into their Estate grown Extra Virgin olive oil. Their extrordinary oil is sold at our stand......but don't wait because it sells out quickly! WE ARE CURRENTLY SOLD OUT FOR THIS SEASON!
We planted our first crop of pumpkins in 2020! We plan to offer another fun-filled pumpkin patch in the Fall of 2022, offering a variety of specialty and carving pumpkins!
The winter of 2020, we planted 95 apple trees. We plan to enhance our fall offerings to include Pink Lady, Granny Smith, Gala, Fuji, Braeburn, and Honey Crisp varieties in the Fall of 2022.
